The Acetal copolymer is more resistant against hydrolysis, strong alkalis and thermal-oxidative degradation than the Acetal homopolymer. The latter has higher mechanical strength, stiffness, hardness and creep resistance as well as a lower thermal expansion rate. It also presents a better wear resistance.

It has excellent creep resistance and dimensional stability which makes it ideal for machining of precision parts. The co-efficient of friction is low, and the dielectric properties are excellent which means it is well suited for such things as precision gears, bearings with close tolerance, electrical engineering insulations, snapfit assemblies, parts which operate in water up to 90°C and that require low absorption.
